First of all, it was for me a perfect show. I had fun, she made me laugh, think, enjoy and made me love her even more. The show started with “For The Lovers”, so here’s the full set list:

1. Video Introduction
2. “For The Lovers ”
3. “Nothin’ But Love”
4. “I Look To You”
5. “My Love Is Your Love”
6. “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay”
Interlude:
7. “For The Love Of You” (performed by Gary Houston)
8. “Queen Of The Night” (performed by backing vocalists)

9. “A Song For You (MJ tribute)”

Medley:
10. “Saving All My Love For You”
11. “Greatest Love Of All”
12. “I Learned From The Best”

13. “I Love The Lord”
14. “I Will Always Love You”

15. “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)”
16. “How Will I Know”
17. “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength”
18. “Million Dollar Bill” encore

My personal highlight was “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength”, for me the show started fantastic and got even better after “I Will Always Love You”. I guess, because the pressure was gone and she with a lot of emotion.

Whitney Houston delivers at Newcastle Arena

Apr 23 2010 by Gordon Barr, Evening Chronicle
THE big question on everyone’s lips before Whitney Houston made her debut at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena last night was would she – could she – deliver the goods.

Her Nothing But Love world tour has been dogged with controversy – her time spent off stage, the diva unable to hit the notes like she used to, boos from fans, and that throat infection which forced her to cancel gigs at the start of the British leg.

There was a tangible air of expectancy in the build-up to last night’s show – but few could have come away feeling they had not been entertained.

I would prefer to see an ‘imperfect’ Whitney sing live to a ‘perfect’ Britney mime any day and by the end of her 90-minute set the 46-year-old proved she still had that star quality about her

The gig was not without its faults – we were only given snippets of many of her earliest hits, and for big numbers like I Wanna Dance With Somebody and Million Dollar Bill she let the backing singers and band take control of the vocals in the choruses.

There were only two costume changes, Whitney first appearing all in white and then returning after a 15-minute interlude, just several songs in, dressed all in black.

When she did deliver the goods, she delivered them with class. The show kicked off with For The Lovers, but I preferred it when she slowed down for the power ballad I Look To You, followed by cracking renditions of My Love Is Your Love and It’s Not right But It’s OK.

Yes she did sound breathy at times, but it works with her 2010 voice and you could never expect her to hit those huge notes she did in the 80s – though she gave it her best shot at times.

I Will Always Love You was, perhaps surprisingly, not kept for the end, and her step away from the microphone for a tense few seconds to get her tonsils around the finale of the song gave it a certain edge.

Tyneside got a taste of a true superstar last night and, judging by the reaction from the fans, Whitney we will always love you – even with faults.

Possible US Tour (no confirmation)

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

Kathrin a huge Whitney fan from Germany, who will meet Whitney on London for a meet and greet, got contacted by Fanasylum regarding alternatives to Meet&Greet Whitney since some of the group might not make it to London due to the ongoing severe flight situation. The mail also referred to a possible US tour leg:

“Alternately, we could also keep you on list to be rescheduled for a US city in the event a US tour is announced. We do not have confirmation or further information on this, but understand it is under consideration.”

This is a slight hint a US tour leg is probably being scheduled! Anyways, we will keep you informed if the tour really materialises.
