After seeing the clips of the Milan concert, I left home very exited on the morning of May 4 to see Whitney in Rome. Rome was concert no. 2 of six concert I’m going to.
Having seen her in London on her second night, I really hoped that her voice has improved since then. I must say her voice in Rome was a million time better, during the first part she sounded almost like in 1999. Her voice regaind clarity and strenghth, her head voice was also there and the head voice only once struggled during ILTY but noone seems to care they were all cheering towards her shouting “Whitney I love you” (me too). She really impressed me.
The venu was quite small and sold out, I received the tickets as a gift for my birthday and when I received them I was bit dissapointed that the seat was not on the floor, now after the concert I can say that the seat was perfect, like row 11 on the floor but on eye level with Whitney and since they venue was small, it felt more itimate than in the O2 in London. First the set list before I go imto the second part:
The Set List
For The Lovers
Nothing But Love
I Look To You
My Love is Your Love
Step By Step
For The Love Of You (performed by her brother)
Queen Of The Night (performed by the background singer)
A Song For You
Saving All My Love For You
The Greatest Love Of All
I Learned From The Best
I Love The Lord
I Will Always Love You
I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)
How Will I Know
I Didn’t Know My Own Strenghth
Million Dollar Bill (encore)
The second part started as always with ASFY and the tribute speach for Michael, which I don’t quite get. Especially since almost whole Europe loved Michael when the US Media and people didn’t appreciated him.
Anyway, she sounded good pn it. I really liked her speach about the nedia when she said that if you’d like to hear me like on the CD then go buy it, for real. The love medley missed IMO All At Once, since that song was so huge in Italy. Her voice list a bit if consistence un the second part, however far less than in London. I Will Always Love You was for me in London the low light of the concert, but here in Rome it qas truly a highlight, hearing her hitting notes at the end of the song like on the record, and the crowd lovet it. I was on my feet afterwards and the hole stadion was screaming, shouting and applauding (during the song she asked people to turn out their camera, noone really responded). When she afterwards asked “Do You Wanna Dance” everybody got up and danced or run towards the stage
. The concert finished with “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength” which was unfortunately not sung completely.
She then left and came back for the encore (MDB) she dancef a lot… You could see that she had a good time and so had I
