1998-2000, was the era of My Love Is Your Love, Whitney’s 4rth studio album that wasn’t a soundtrack. Many would say this was the diva’s most flashy and hip era, from her fashion-forward styles of Dolce and Cobana; to her trendsetting hair bobs; to her more-than-life diva attitude — was on full gear.
In a time where the birth of Pop teeny boppers were emerging, Whitney still held her own. Delivering her most cohesive album to date, My Love Is your Love has been one of Whitney’s and Pop/R&B music’s most classic albums. Churning out hits after hits, the force of Whitney was unstoppable.
In 1999 Whitney was the head diva at VH1′s Divas Live Benefit Concert, where she was even cited as a thee diva. Stealing the show from everyone, and probably the program’s most memorable showcasing.
Winning a Grammy in 2000 for Best R&B Female Vocal Performance for It’s Not Right But It’s Okay, and host of other awards from NAACP, AMA’s and so on, many considered this to be the last time Whitney Houston the star was at her best.
Embarking on the most successful arena tour; the My Love Is Your Love World tour, Whitney proved once again she was a force to be reckoned with in the touring world. Selling out shows at just about every arena, Whitney closed out this era
with a bang.
We here at TheWhitneyVault, we’d like to close out our celebration of the My Love Is Your Love theme week with looking back on just about every memorable moment from Whitney’s most diva-esue period of her remarkable career. We salute you MLIYL.
